Saturday, 12 Nov 2016

Today started a bit slowly and we spent the morning at the flat.  We were able to get some laundry done and ate breakfast before heading over to the ward building.  We met with some YSA at 12 noon to work with them on preparing for some upcoming English tests.

At 3:30 pm we head to Greenwich Ward building for a baptismal service for Gabby and Rebecca.  It is amazing to us that the young missionaries here in the Hyde Park ward are able to have taught so many people that they hold baptismal services every month on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays.  This will be true for December as well, even though the 4th Saturday is 24 December.

Wollstonecraft is the train stop where we get off to go to Greenwich ward for convert baptisms

Typical sight as we (all 40 or so) get off the train and walk to the Greenwich ward building

Honeysuckle on one of the walls we walk by on the way to Greenwich.  They sure smell nice

Wow, time is flying by.  We are investigating the process we may go through if we decide to ask for an extension of our mission. We can ask for a 6 month extension, IF the local leaders think we are doing enough good and they can put up with me  (NO question that they prefer Margaret over me).  So we are trying to find out what it takes to ask for an extension and if the local Bishop, Stake President and Mission President are willing to keep us a bit longer.

After the baptism we went back home.  I sweet talked Margaret into going to David's Kitchen (Thai & Malaysian) for dinner.  She had salmon ( a huge piece by the way) and I had Mongolian beef.

Young missionary transfer call was held at 9:30 pm today.  All the missionaries in the mission get on the phone with President Checketts and find out if they are staying in their current assignment or being moved to another area.  It is a sad time as we get to know & love the missionaries, and then they are pulled away to work in another area.

  1. Margaret, I wanted to visit a little today about Jeri. Losing her feels like losing Mom again, and I sense you'll be feeling the same way. I'm just glad she was part of my life-- she made a huge impact on me. I know the Haleys and Methenys have long been in the Jeri and Clair Fan Club. :) It's hard not to be sad tonight, but I know she is rejoicing and free of pain.

I enjoy reading your blog! Such a wonderful adventure for you, and you're doing so much good. Young adults need people to listen to them and "take care" of them, and I see that's how you spend your time. Take care of yourselves, too!
    Love, Nancy
