Sunday, 9 Oct 2016

We set up the meeting house for the Sunday session of General Conference for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints.  We held a Mandarin version in the Relief Society room and English in the Chapel.  The Korean, Spanish and Portuguese speaking members decided to meet with the English speaking members, and a lot of the Chinese speaking members attended the English session as well.

We had a lunch for all the attendees between the morning and afternoon sessions.  We had soup (4 kinds), bread and some cakes.  Plus we had a surprise Birthday cake for Sister Marsha Lems, who is the wife in the other missionary couple serving in our ward - Her husband is Elder Ben Lems.  Margaret made a tomato bisque complements of Jenny Batty - thanks Jenny.

After the conference sessions we held a Missionary Coordination Meeting (MCM), which we do every week to keep up with the status of investigators and newly baptised members.  We now have 8 pairs of missionaries assigned to our ward, but will have one set of the sisters go back to the South Harbour ward next month.  The full time missionaries (young and senior) meet with the ward missionaries in the MCM.

The Hyde Park YSA ward missionaries.  These 7 young men & woman go out with the full time missionaries a few times each week to help fellowship the investigators and newly baptised members.

It is now about time to head home for dinner, so we are not sitting down to eat at 10:15 pm.  My it is only 5:30pm and we can go home - well, almost as I just remembered something the Bishop wanted me to do today.
